SPE LEEDS AGM 2019/20

Dear Members and Friends!

The unprecedented Covid-19 situation and resulting university lock down, combined with social distancing, have changed the way all university societies have to manage their affairs. Moreover, many of you have experienced tortuous and full of turmoil way back home. As a committee we sincerely hope that all of you have managed to come back safely and that your families are secured.


Therefore due to the circumstances, this year AGM will have to be hold in the very different way.

The SPE Leeds Annunal General Meeting (AGM) 2019/20 will be held on Sunday 24.05.20 at 4.30 pm BST via Skype video conference. SPE Leeds chapter committee has undertaken appropriate steps to ensure that all members can participate. We kindly ask all members to set up Skype accounts with their university email address so we all can participate - the presentation of candidates, their manifestos and voting will take place to choose society's new committee for the new 2019/2020 Academic Year .

PRESIDENT

Leads the group and takes responsibility for its decisions, therefore You should have: 

  • good leadership and communication skills

  • the ability to work with, and motivate various personalities

  • a solid understanding of the goals and mission of SPE and the chapter’s role in relation to the global nature of SPE

  • a minimum one year committee experience

Responsibilities:

  • Preside over chapter meetings

  • Communicate regularly with other officers; chapter members; sponsoring section; faculty advisor and SPE staff regarding chapter plans, needs, or challenges

  • Attend chapter meetings, meetings of the sponsoring section, and the SPE Leadership Workshop

  • Ensure the annual report and financial statements are submitted by 1 April

  • Ensure your chapter complies with all SPE policies

  • Conduct election of chapter officers and ensure that SPE is notified of the result

  • Liaison with LUU Development Coordinator

TREASURER

Responsible for the financial part, monitoring expenditure and income.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and disburse chapter funds as approved by the faculty adviser

  • Complete annual financial statement to include with the annual report

  • Provide financial reports and make recommendations on the management of your chapter’s finances

  • Reconcile all chapter accounts and prepare annual operating budget

SECRETARY

Leads the strategy and execution of all marketing-related activities on social media and physical channels.

Responsibilities:

  • Record, store and distribute minutes of officer meetings

  • Organize and promote social events for all Society members

  • Regular updating the society's website and coordinate chapter postings on social media

  • Publicize chapter meetings and activities

  • Sign up for Broadcast Email service
